Michael Pcola was a veteran who served his country but when it was time for his
country to give back, that didn’t happen. When a person gets to a certain age, does the
expectation of medical care disappear? Who gets to decide if a person has outlived
their usefulness? How quickly a decision was made to call hospice. Could the outcome
have been different if they had provided prompt medical care? Susan will never know
and it’s too late for Michael.
Susan tells how Michael spent his last months when she tried to acquire medical
attention for him. Many months after his death on July 24, 2019, he was remembered by
ladies at a grocery store as a sweet man who played the harmonica and always had a
kind word.
